- If you care, ask a question and I will explain it in a post.
- If you don't care, that's okay. I don't expect many people to care.
- I don't like whining to people I know, so I'm going to take it out on the internet.
- This blog is about me liking a girl who lives in California but visits North Carolina sometimes.
- She lived in North Carolina last year, which was when I met her.
- She doesn't know I like her.
- I will refer to her as Cali in these blogs.
- I will refer to myself either in the first person or as The Fourth Guy.
- I will abbreviate everyone else's name to the first letter or use a pseudonym.

The Basics
This is why I was angry.
“No. I finally convinced my dad to let me see katt so im sleeping over her house tonight… And i think imma cancel the movie thing this wednesday cause only you Z. and m. are gonna come and my dad won’t like me being the only girl… Yea i’m pissed. I blame everyone who never replied” – text from Cali
Step by step analysis:
No. = This was in response to me asking if she could come over today.
I = From this message I can tell that her phone automatically capitalizes I after a period.
finally = she has been trying and asking to do it for some time. Whenever I ask her to ask for something she says it is not a good idea to ask.
convinced my dad = Her dad is very protective of her. He doesn’t let her do a lot of stuff.
to let me see katt = Katt was Ive’s best friend for a long time or close enough that there wasn’t an important difference.
so im sleeping over her house tonight = texting language. I read around it now. Girls use it more than guys, but Ive texts relatively well. She went to a sleepover instead of hanging out with me. I had been asking for a sleepover to be set up for quite some time. She never asked, until I arranged one at my church on New Year’s Eve. The reason her dad would be unlikely to allow a sleepover is that I am a guy. Katt is bisexual. There is equal potential for sexual mishap there. I feel discriminated against because of it.
… = pause, deliver more bad news
And i think imma cancel the movie thing = She wanted to go see Holmes on the thirtieth. Everyone was invited, not just me. Everyone is nearly literal, she said the more people coming the better and it was an open event on Facebook. All of her North Carolina friends, to be specific. Before this text, I had about three specific hopes left to see her. Today, this time at the movies, and the sleepover at my church. Now I had one.
this wednesday = This is kind of unrelated, as I wasn’t thinking of it at the time I received this text. But yesterday I looked up the times that the movie was playing so that she could invite people for a specific time. She said I was awesome. It made me feel good.
cause only you Z. and m. are gonna come = while writing this, I am also texting her. On Facebook, six people are coming (including her and me) and four people have listed themselves as maybes (including Z.). This was before she posted the time.
and my dad won’t like me being the only girl = I need to go over to her place and hang out with her dad some. As much as I would like to say that I hate him, I really can’t. He doesn’t know me well enough and I don’t blame him for not trusting me with her. Screw this only girl issue. I can fix that later.
… = part embarrassed silence because of her dad and part “Well now I’m done.”
Yea i’m pissed. = She doesn’t like it, but she’s giving up. She texted a lot of people without a lot of replies. Moral? Never depend on a lot of people, because a lot of people are not dependable.
I blame everyone who never replied = See how only the i’s after a period are capitalized? She is still blaming others. Why not? If you give up, blame has to go to someone.
I said I was mad. Now that I have explained it, do you blame me?
But not at her, never at her.
“Thank you. It’s not your fault, but that still means something. It’s like… you know the borg ride at Carrowinds? It’s like there’s a long line and when you’re almost there, it gets struck by lightning and you have to go home with nothing. You’re not mad at the ride. Life just isn’t fair.”
I won’t go into my text step by step, but I will explain some of the key stuff.
She had just texted me that she was sorry that I was mad (a long text, not just “Sorry.”) and that it must have been her fault since it just happened. I always put an extra r in Carowinds. My bad, I don’t usually misspell stuff. I really do mostly feel that way, because to be mad at her would be to be mad at the thing worth getting mad over. I already explained why I can’t be mad at her dad. I can’t be mad at all the people who didn’t say they were coming. I don’t even know all of them. So in the end, yeah. Life just isn’t fair.
Sorry to whine, people.
